The scholarship provides financial aid to a full-time ODU student enrolled in electrical engineering or information systems management, who intends to pursue a career in wireless applications or telecommunications.
EWA established the scholarship in honor of Joseph B. Vestal, an alumni of ODU, for his innovation and entrepreneurial contributions to the wireless industry.
“I support the mission and the purpose of the scholarship to foster participation in the wireless world,” Vestal said. “Jacob’s application was indicative of a bright mind motivated to succeed.”
The private wireless industry comes together in support of the scholarship fund, donating funds through a silent auction held each year at the EWA’s Wireless Leadership Summit.
“EWA and its members are committed to encouraging students to explore career opportunities in the wireless and telecommunications industries,” EWA President Mark Crosby said. “The scholarship supports the goal of fostering a new generation of professionals.”
