Hytera Launches DMR Product Line in North America (3/1/10)
Hytera will become the second company to offer Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) equipment in North America, with the launch of a new DMR line of products at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) 2010 next week. The line includes a portable radio (PD782), mobile radio (MD782) and a repeater (RD982).
The digital portable radio supports both analog and digital modes, allowing for an easy migration to digital. The unit also obtains an extra 40 percent operation time compared with analog while operating at the same output power, a company statement said. The mobile radio has digital features and additional functions such as message, GPS, data transmission and connection alert. The repeater can be mounted in a rack, bracket or cabinet, and can be placed on a desktop.
Hytera, headquartered in Shenzhen, China, has been developing and promoting digital products since 2003. Motorola is the only other vendor to offer DMR products in North America, although Tait Electronics has announced plans for a DMR line.
