Bill Banning Cell Phones in Prisons Passed by Congress (7/22/10)
A bill to prohibit the possession or use of cell phones and similar wireless devices by federal prisoners passed the House. The bill, S. 1749: Cell Phone Contraband Act of 2010, passed the Senate in April.

The legislation will likely proceed to a conference committee of senators and representatives to work out differences in the versions of the bill each chamber approved. The bill then goes to the president before becoming law.
