Kenwood Canada Provides G8/G20 Summit with NEXEDGE (7/26/10)
Kenwood Electronics Canada, in partnership with Mobile Business Communications, provided a digital NEXEDGE multisite, IP-linked mobile radio system to the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) for the G8/20 Summit held in Huntsville and Toronto from June 25 to 27.
The UHF system consisted of 30 channels and 600 portables providing secure, seamless coverage from Lester B. Pearson International Airport to Huntsville and from Huntsville to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The NEXEDGE system enabled DFAIT staff members, divided into several groups, to communicate within each group, as well to provide simultaneous transmission of instructions and messages to all staff members of several groups in the event of an emergency, company officials said.
