Music can cause the brain to release dopamine which is also involved in pleasure from eating and sex. Emotional moments in songs lead to a high level of dopamine which results in joy and excitement. Since our brains are used to these situations, we enjoy music more when they happen. Furthermore, music copies the emotions in our voices, so we can feel happiness, sadness or fear when we listen to it. Because of this connection, music is able to make us feel different emotions and we are naturally attracted to the rhythms and melodies we hear.
